STEP DOWNS


MUSCLES WORKED:  Quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, calves.


GREAT FOR:  Toning legs and bottom.


TECHNIQUE TIPS: Chest up and look forward.  Bend knee and step down to either touch just tip of toes of ground or not at all.  All your weight should stay on top leg.  Knee cap should stay aligned with toes and weight predominantly through the heel rather than toes.  Knee cap should not go forward of toes.


LEVELS: Begin with a low step and gradually increase the height of the step. 


For advanced levels, hold a dumbbell in each hand and gradually increase weight.
