I was pretty active before I started my personal training sessions but it was very beneficial for me to begin a structured workout plan. I was training for the Sydney half marathon on my own and thought I was getting in all of the core exercises in order to prepare, it was only after my first few sessions with Shane that I realized I would be far from prepared without our training. We began working out twice a week for 10 weeks.
Shane made it easy to work hard but the time was also enjoyable at the same time. After every session I felt accomplished and knew I would feel it the next day, which was really important to me. Since I was on a 10-week plan, I had measurements my 1st, 5th, and 10th week. I found this to be very motivating because I find it frustrating to workout really hard and not see any difference on the scale. During the evaluations we did skin fold measurements, endurance exercises and other evaluations. To see the progress on paper as well as feeling healthier and fit was the motivation I needed to push myself the extra distance required to reach my goals.
After the 10th week I could see the difference in my legs and arms, which were the two areas I wanted to focus on, as well as notice the difference in my overall endurance. My training ended two weeks ago and I was able to complete the half marathon in 2:11 with no problem. I feel great and have continued doing the routines I learned during our training.
The support from Shane and enjoyment I got from working hard in a fun environment was a huge motivator to get me up and to the gym at 9 in the morning instead of sleeping in. This is saying a lot since I love my sleep. So to anybody thinking about getting started, don’t wait another day! When you have the support and knowledge to guide you in the right direction its amazing how fast you can start seeing the results you’re looking for.
