A trick to help you master this super impressive feat.
Push-ups may be the best chest, shoulder, ab and arm exercise around, and blasting out 100 reps in one shot says a lot about your strength and endurance. Here's a plan to get you there, no matter how low your current push-up power is. Start by figuring out how many push-ups you can perform with good form. Good form is hands just past shoulder width, on your toes, and performing the pushup until your chest is about a fist distance from the ground.
This is your current max. Every 2 weeks, take 2 days off and then retest your max.
Workout 1
(Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
Perform 4 times your max number of reps, taking as long as you need to do so. It's OK if subsequent sets have fewer reps than your max.
Workout 2
(Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday)
Set alarm to go off five times throughout the day (every 2-3 hrs is fine). Each time it sounds, hit the deck and do 2 sets of pushups. The 1st set should be your max number. Rest for 45secs, and then perform the 2nd set, trying to reach your max again, resting as little as possible.
The Competition
I would love to hear back if anyone out there can do 100 pushups after following this program. The people to reply to say they have will all be personally invited out to Step into Life Hallett Cove on the first Saturday of September to demonstrate their super impressive achievement. The person who can perform the most amount of pushups past 100 will be given a $100 Coles/Myer voucher to celebrate their 100 pushups....complements of Step into Life Hallett Cove! Dont worry no one will go empty handed on the day. Everyone will receive a prize for achieving 100 pushups!
Competition Closes 30 August 2010. So come on, get into training and let's here from you! (offer is not available to SIL Trainers and other Personal Trainer. Pushups also need to be performed on your toes!)
