What was life like before you started training?
Very good but maybe was indulging too much on good food, wine and on biscuits and chocolate, especially while watching TV
At what point did you decide that you needed a trainer?
When I decided to quit smoking for the 10th time. I thought it would be a good idea to invest my savings in not buying cigarettes into some training to lose a bit of weight and change body shape and gain strength especially in my upper body as I have always run. I had a great incentive preparing for my 3rd half marathon and I was determined to improve my time.
How much work per week do you put into your training?
On an average I did 2 x 1hour personal training sessions with Shane and 3 runs (2 x short ones and 1 x long run
How long have you been training with SSPTAC?
I have trained with Shane for about 10 weeks (some sessions got postponed because of rain)
As a result I have lost approx. 5kg; I have gained in body strength and improved my time on my last half-marathon by 14 minutes.
So tell me exactly how you are different today compared to the day you started training?
Physically my body shape has changed (my legs are thinner and my favourite jeans don\'t feel as tight), mentally I am very happy to have improved on my running time
How do you feel right now?
I feel good, happy and proud and I don\'t miss smoking at all - I actually don\'t think about smoking anymore
What really gets you out of bed when it’s freezing cold to come to your session?
Shane who has been a great trainer, always listening, flexible, encouraging and very personable.
What would you say to someone thinking of getting started?
Go for it, it is very rewarding, be patient as the results show really at the end but if you are committed you will definitely see some improvements and your mood will be lifted :))
